🤝 Parent and Family Engagement Policy
The Parent and Family Engagement Policy outlines how San Pedro and LAUSD partner with families to support student learning and school improvement. It describes the ways we involve parents in decision-making, provide learning opportunities at home, and keep families informed and engaged.
Each year, this policy is developed with input from parents and is shared so that all families understand how they can participate and stay connected to their child’s education.
This year, we have three sessions for our families:
Bridge to College Program for the parents of the children enrolled in the school identified above. PIQE will recruit parents by phone, provide a series of weekly training sessions culminating in a certification ceremony with certificates provided to parents who attend two or more sessions for the Bridge to College Program. The program is designed to develop skills and techniques which will empower parents to address the educational needs of their school-aged children.
Social Emotional Learning (k-12) for the parents of the children enrolled in the school identified above. PIQE will recruit parents by phone, provide a series of weekly training sessions, organize, and conduct a Question-and-Answer forum with the school’s leadership team, culminating in a graduation ceremony with certificates provided to parents who attend four or more sessions for the Social-Emotional Program. The program is designed to develop skills and techniques which will empower parents to address the educational needs of their school-aged children.
Family Financial Literacy Program equips families with tools to build a strong financial foundation and lifelong money management skills. Participants learn about budgeting, saving, credit, investing, and strategies to protect themselves against identity theft and fraud. By fostering open discussions, the program promotes trust, transparency, and shared financial goals for lasting family success.
